Why animal welfare with a difference?
Animal welfare with a difference means promoting the protection and welfare of animals in creative and innovative ways. Instead of drama-oriented descriptions, new ideas and approaches can help to create more joy and commitment in animal welfare and thus reach more people. Encounters with animals are particularly touching and open hearts to the needs of our animal friends: whether it is the arrival of a protégé in its new home, a visit to an animal welfare organisation or a funny quirk of a four-legged friend …
Through small actions, each individual can make a significant contribution to animal welfare and thus have a positive impact. With more joy in animal welfare, the world becomes a better place for our animal companions and the people who care for them – full of love, care and respect.
Encounters with animals are often more than just fleeting moments. They can touch your heart in a very special way. Whether it’s the loving gaze of a rescued dog looking at you gratefully, these small gestures of affection can evoke true feelings of happiness within you.
It is fascinating to see how animals are able to touch us humans so deeply and at the same time give us comfort and joy. These encounters with animals are like little miracles in everyday life, reminding us how important it is to stand up for the welfare and protection of our fellow creatures and the environment. Every encounter with an animal can enrich our lives and inspire us to spread more joy in animal welfare.
One focus is on greyhounds.
Whether Galgo, Podenco or Sloughi – these noble long-legged dogs, which often attract attention due to their speed, beauty and grace, unfortunately have a difficult fate in many countries due to tradition and are often mistreated. In Spain, Galgos and Podencos are particularly affected, in the Arab Emirates it is Sloughis, and in Eastern European countries, greyhounds also find it difficult to live a species-appropriate life due to their physical and character traits.
The vast majority of them are kept as ‘classic’ hunting dogs and therefore often have no contact with humans. Due to their frequent trauma, it is very difficult to rehome them from these living conditions and requires a great deal of patience and education. Once you encounter a greyhound, you will be enchanted by their sensitivity, personality and strength.
The protection of these dogs and the work towards a future-changing legislative amendment in Spain are an important part of our community.
